History of BalletInstructor: Prof. Jane B Roberts Web page of course: Sage.edu Type of course: Dance history, Institution: Russell Sage College, Troy, NY Description: This course traces the development of ballet from its origins in the 16th century to the present. Primary focus is given to changes in the structure and style of ballet as revealed through major works and the contributions of performers who help shape that style. Several weeks are devoted to researching, viewing and discussing the works of Ashton and Balanchine.
