Beloved by many members of the dance critics community, Gary Parks' enthusiasm for good dancing and for good writing is remembered by providing educational opportunities to emerging dance critics. The reviews editor for Dance Magazine for many years until his death in 1999, Gary Parks leaves a legacy as a meticulous editor, and thoughtful critic who remained in contact with writers around the globe. The Dance Critics Association has established a scholarship to its annual conference in honor of Parks, and his role as a connecting point between myriad colleagues. The scholarship is designed to encourage young writers to network with their peers, and to assist writers who might, because of geographical isolation, be unable to attend the conference.Conference registration/payment
